Texas mechanics liens can only be filed for amounts owed and unpaid for work performed. Additional amounts like interest, filing fees, attorney fees, etc. cannot be included in lien claims there. Otherwise, a claimant may run the risk of filing an invalid or unenforceable mechanics lien claim - or even an exaggerated one. Of course, note that most mechanics lien claims are resolved through some agreement between the parties. So, a claimant could certainly negotiate with the other side of the dispute to convince them to pay for the costs related to filing the mechanics lien.
