Do I have to file any paperwork Before I start if I want to be able to lien it for non-payment when the job is complete

FloridaMechanics Lien

Florida, Orange County. Irrigation jobs for private residence. I’m a subcontractor. I want to be able to lean on property if we do not pay when I’m finished with the job but do I have to send some thing out prior to filing the lien. I don’t think we have to do a notice to owner in this state. I just file the lien if they don’t pay or what steps do I need to take to ensure I can file a lien at the end of the contract

If you are a subcontractor on a private irrigation project, then you will need to serve a Notice to Owner on the owner of the property and send a copy to the contractor. The NTO needs to be served within 45 days of your first performance of the work. After you lien the project, you will need to send the recorded lien to the owner and contractor within 15 days of recording.
