Do I have a problem with the lien?

Virginia

I am a subcontractor who just asserted a mechanics lien against a GC. However, the lien is asserted against a warehouse that they rent and do not own. Is there an issue with this?

You don't have a problem with the lien per se. However, if the landlord has not essentially consented to allow liens to be placed on its land due to non-payment for tenant improvements, then the lien would only attach to the value of the leasehold and not to the underlying land.

Yes. There is an issue. Your lien only attaches to the leasehold interest of the GC which may have little or no value.
