Do I file the Notice of Lease with the Clerk of Court?

LouisianaPreliminary Notice

Do you file a Notice of Lease (Preliminary Notice) with the Clerk of Court where the immovable property is located? Or can I simply mail the Notice of Lease to the property owner and Contractor?

Proper Notice does not require filing it with the Clerk of Court. I would recommend using certified mail to the registered address for the buisness that you can find on the Secretary of State's website. I would also email the notice to the contact that you have for the Owner and Contractor as a backup. If you get a response to your email, it will eliminate the argument that those entities did not have notice.
