Do I as a contractor in CT have to adjust the lien amount to match the balance paid?

ConnecticutConstruction Contract

I am a subcontractor in Ct. I am not confident my customer intends to pay my complete balance. They would like me to adjust the lien amount to match the portion paid prior to paying the complete balance. I am concerned if I reduce the amount of original lean amount that they won’t pay the balance.

You must not file a mechanic’s lien for a sum in excess of what is actually due. This sum must not exceed the amount that the owner as agreed to pay to the contractor through which you are subject. If you do so, you run the risk that your mechanic's lien will be found void and unenforceable.
