Do field engineers/technicians/ crew supervisors get prevailing wage

New JerseyPrevailing Wages

I am currently on a prevailing wage project, my position is field engineer/technician/crew supervisor.l am working for an engineering firm subcontracted by the GC to install instrumentation. I am curious if in my position (paid hourly) do I deserve prevailing wage? The crews I am supervising/observing are being paid prevailing wage, I am not. In NY they have specific rates for field engineers and crew supervisors... I can’t not find that in NJ law....

Typically, any work performed on-site will be subject to prevailing wage rules. So, while off-site and prep work might not be subject to prevailing wages, the work done on location should garner prevailing wages in most cases. I'll be the first to admit that New Jersey prevailing wage law isn't my expertise, though. So, if you aren't being paid the prevailing wage, discussing the matter with your employer's HR or accounting department might help to clear things up. Additionally, contacting a local New Jersey construction attorney could be useful, too. They'll be more familiar with the NJ prevailing wage requirements, and they may have a reason why prevailing wages aren't paid. For a breakdown of New Jersey's prevailing wage rates, this site should be very useful: NJ Current Prevailing Wage Rates.
