Claiming my lien is fraudulent and suing me what are my next steps?

MichiganMechanics Lien
Anonymous Laborer

I had field a lien through this service. I had received threatening phone calls demanding to release of lien. Now I just received papers that were filed with the 17th district court in Michigan taped to my front door suing me for Count 1 : Recording of document without lawful cause in violation of MCL 565.25 and 600.2907a Count 2: Slander of title; violation of MCL 565.108 Count 3: Quit title with demand of which exceeds $25,000

You've been served with a Summons and Complaint that is probably alleging the construction lien you recorded was improper. I am surmising this given the claims indicated in your question.

That these papers were taped to your front door suggests to me that there were prior attempts to serve you with these papers that were unsuccessful. And that you were probably served by alternative service. If I'm right, there will be an Order for Alternative Service that is among the bundle of papers taped to your front door. Taping (also called "tacking") is a common method of alternative service.

You must promptly respond to this lawsuit or you risk having a default and/or default judgment entered against you for failing to respond on time. If you have a business, you must respond through an attorney.

Since you didn't indicate when the papers were taped to your front door, I don't know how much time is left. You must take action as soon as possible to avoid entry of a default and/or default judgment against you.

The 17th Circuit Court (you wrote district, but I think you meant circuit) is Kent County, in Grand Rapids. I recommend you contact Aileen Leippbrandt with the Hilger Hammond law firm in Gand Rapids right away on Monday. Here's a link to her contact information - https://hilgerhammond.com/our-firm/attorneys/aileen-m-leipprandt/
