I sent a preliminary notice and never received a response. I would like to file a mechanics lien. The money owed to us has been since June of 2020

You have a maximum of 90 days from the date the project completes in which to record a mechanics' lien, and that period can be shorter if a valid Notice of Completion has been recorded. If the project has been completed for more than 90 days, it is unlikely that you would be able to record a valid mechanics' lien. I suggest you contact an attorney knowledgeable about mechanics liens to advise you concerning the specifics of your situation, and what steps you may be able to take to collect.
