Can we place a lien on a property that has been sold and has a new owner?

Michigan
Anonymous General Contractor

When we sent out the Notice of Intent the new owner called us but does not want to pay for the repair. It was in the purchase agreement that the repairs would be paid by the seller.

Thanks for reaching out to the Levelset community. That's a very good question. Did you also send notice to the previous owner, whom I assume contracted you? You may wish to consider consulting an attorney privately at their office for advice specific to this situation. Here are some attorneys from our directory in Michigan: https://www.levelset.com/payment-help/experts/construction-lawyer/michigan/. I hope that helps!
