Can we file a mechanics lien

We did work on a school for a contractor the job was completed however the contractor has refused to pay the remaining $9000 of the bid. Should we go to the school board to force payment or can we file a lien against the contractor?

You can't file a lien on public property, but there is likely a payment bond in place for the project. Reach out to me and I can help you locate it and make a claim.
