Hello, I am a homeowner who had a leaky pipe repaired. The plumber said it would be a simple straight forward repair. All he had to do was solder in new copper water pipes and replace a section that pin holed. He struggled with it all day and into the night. He never gave me a price for the job or his hourly rate. I was assuming a simple cut out and solder in would be about $300-$400 (another plumber told me afterwards it wouldn't have been more than $300. The plumber ended up not being able to solder the joints in the open section of wall and put in shark bite fittings which I could have done myself. He is now charging me $1405.00 for the repair and threatening to put a lien on my home. Where am I with this?
