Can I use my old company's HVAC license for my new company?

FloridaLicenses

If I have a Florida HVAC contractor's license and will be shutting down my current business to open up a new HVAC business (new entity) that is much smaller and serves a different type of customer, can I still use the same license or do I need a new license number for my new HVAC company?

I am assuming that the qualifier is state certified. The qualifying licensee has his/her own license number. Any company qualified by that person will receive its unique license number. If you are going to use a different business name then that business will have to be qualified separately and receive its unique license.

He is state certified. The first business is being shut down and liquidated. Once that's complete and he starts a new company, he can still use that same state license can't he? Since it's no longer attached to the old company anymore (as the old company would no longer exist)?

OK. Just to be clear. The person's license is just that - his license. He can use it to apply to qualify a new company. If approved, the company gets its own unique license number. If a licensed company is being shut down the Contractor's Licensing Board should be notified. In case there is any doubt - company licenses are not portable and may not be used by a different company.
