Can I lien a job twice?

California

I Lien'd a job in March for 50% of my retention and need to Lien the remaining 50% retention by 4/15 due to occupancy within 90 days. Can I Lien a job twice? March and April?

Yes, so long as your time to record a lien has not expired. Assuming that is the case, I suggest an amended lien, that references the prior lien. Thanks, Andrew

I agree that you file another lien as long as the lien period hasn't expired. Most Recorder's Office throughout the state are closed but they are still accepting documents to record by mail. Check their on-line fee schedule to make sure you send them a check for the right amount of money, and send them a second copy of the lien to record and mail back to you, with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
