Can I hold off on signing the certificate of completion until final inspection

CaliforniaJoint ChecksLien WaiversNotice of CompletionPay Applications

I had a furnace replaced. It was like pulling teeth to get them to pull a permit but they finally did. They are now pressuring me to sign the certificate of completion without the final inspection signed out. What am I to do?

If the final inspection has not occurred, then the job is not complete.

I’m not sure what “certificate of completion” they’re trying to get you to sign. Sounds like some sort of company document. However, I agree that you should wait for the work to pass inspection by the Building Dept. before signing anything. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this.
