Can I get my plumbing contracting license if I woe the IRS

ArizonaLicenses

I owe the IRS around $60,000 they have filed a lien on my bank account. I'm a very skilled contractor and I have someone willing to take a chance on me. The only way for me to pay this debt is for me to start my own business and make more money. Question with this debt effect my ability to get my contractor's license?

Probably not. At the link below is a list of what the ROC looks for on a background check. You will see it is pretty must just criminal activity, not tax liens. Now, the policy statement says the list is "not exclusive," so there is a chance an IRS lien may cause a problem. But it seems unlikely. The only way to find out is to apply. https://roc.az.gov/sites/default/files/files/sps100_licensing_background_checks.pdf
