We were originally partnered with our customer so we never completed purchase orders. We have since parted ways and am wondering if we are able to file a valid lien?
That's not an easy question to answer. It depends on who your customer was, whether you filed prelims (or even had to), whether the project is still going, etc. If you're having trouble getting paid, it's worth it reach talk a construction attorney through the facts and see what your options are.
