Can I file a mechanical lien?

CaliforniaConstruction ContractMechanics Lien

I finished my work on 04/27/2021. The client promised to fulfill the payment within May when the property is sold. Until now I have not heard back from her. She currently does not answer my phone calls or reply to emails.

If you are in direct contract with your client, and you are a licensed contractor, you may wish to consider recording a mechanics lien against your client's property. Mechanics liens need to be recorded within 90 days from the date that the last work was performed concerning the project. If you record a mechanics lien, you must file a lawsuit within 90 days from the date of recording the lien or the lien is no longer enforceable. I suggest you consult with a lawyer who is familiar with mechanics liens to walk you through the process.
