Can I file a lien from a company who owes me

A company owes me over 2000, the company is a cleaning company who hired me for work as a contractor

Based on what you are describing, you do not have mechanic's lien rights. You would have to be a licensed contractor and you would have had to send a valid and timely preliminary 20 day notice when work started to preserve your mechanic's lien rights. You can still sue for the 2000 you are owed. It's just that the debt will not be secured by a lien on anyone's property.

Since you can't lien, why not let a certified commercial collection agency collect the debt on a contingency bases so you're not wasting time and money chasing a bad debt. If for any reason it's not collected by the agency, you can always sue. Feel free to contact me, Best regards
