can I file a lien?

New YorkMechanics Lien

I was hired by a design company to do work for a customer of theirs (residential). We finished installing and now the design company wont answer calls or emails, its been a couple/few weeks. We can file a lien on the property where the work was installed?

You're listed as a "sub-subcontractor," this can have an impact on your lien rights. Additionally, you should only resort to filing a lien after demand for payment has been made and either ignored or rejected. There are a couple other wrinkles here, but you'll probably want to discuss with an attorney.

this is not a straight forward issue. You or the party you worked with may be too remote to file a lien. also, unless you had direct contact with owner in some respect, you may not be able to show owner consent for the work. I think you to consult an attorney.
