If you are in a direct contract with the Owner, and it is less than 90 days since your last performance of work on the project, you can probably file the Claim of Lien in the official records of the County in which the real property is located.

If you are not in a direct contract with the Owner (for example, if you are a subcontractor whose contrat is with a GC, and it is the GC who contracted directly with the owner), in order to have lien rights you need to have served a "Notice to Owner" either prior to beginning work ont he project or within 45 days of begining work. (Is this what you mean by "intent to lien letter?). If you've done that, and and it is less than 90 days since your last performance of work on the project, you can probably file the Claim of Lien in the official records of the County in which the real property is located. As always you should consult an attorney in your area.
