We generally provide help with construction-related questions, and not automotive lien questions. However, liens for repair of vehicles are generally "possessory liens" which means that the party performing the repairs has a lien on the vehicle that requires the mechanics to retain possession of the vehicle. If certain requirements are met, which can differ depending on state, the mechanic can then sell the car at auction to satisfy the debt. If the car was returned to the owner, however, it is usually thecae that a lien is no longer applicable.
