I'm a subcontractor hired by a GC on a Military project. The owner of the property is communicating with me but the GC is not - I do not want to file a lien on the property because the problem is the contractor. Is it possible to file a lien on the contractors property so they are responsible for payment?
If the property is US government property (which a military project would typically be), you cannot file any sort of lien - your options would be limited to a claim agasint the gc's payment bond, which sounds like your preference anyways - to move against the gc but not the owner.
Feel free to reach out to me directly if I can be of further assistance.
Good luck!
Joe
