I had $28,000 stolen from me the cashiers check to pay off my brand new car. I tried to steal the car but I got it back but they did take the check. Is there anything I can do to get my money back or put a lien on the house or anything at all? I have all the evidence of misappropriation of funds or embezzlement. Written.
Hello,
No. Mechanic's liens are for the improvement of real property. You have possession of the vehicle so no garageman's lien.
In all honesty, this is a police matter. There are criminal charges you should be pressing if you know who did it and know where they are. Ask whoever wrote the cashier's check to stop the check and have it reissued.

Your question is not clear: "I tried to steal the car but I got it back."
Even cashier's checks can be stop paid. So, ask the issuer to stop pay the check. Maybe the cashier's check has not as yet been deposited or cashed.
You should file a complaint with your county's District Attorney. With some investigation, the District Attorney should be able to determine who cashed or deposited the cashier's check, and can prosecute that person.
Good luck.
