Can I charge twice the amount owed if not paid by the homeowner?

FloridaMechanics Lien

Hi, I was not paid by the home owner who is trying to force me to accept less money than was agreed upon. I have to file a mechanic lien to get paid. Am I able to charge twice the amount owed for non payment.

No. There are only certain types of items and charges that you can include in a lien, otherwise the lien could be declared fraudulent. In fact, a lien is not even supposed to include contractual damages or lost profits. It is designed to secure payment for the work actually performed. Contract damages and lost profits are generally only available through a lawsuit. You should consult with an attorney if you need assistance on confirming the right dollar amount for your lien.
