can an ex employee place a lien on a customer

FloridaRight to Lien

We terminated an employee and he states that he is still owed money, however we have records that he has been paid all that he is owed. Unfortunately he is insisting that he is still owed more and is threatening to place liens on our customers that still owe our company money. Is this allowed in the state of Florida?

You might want to send a demand letter to the employee explaining that he is not entitled to file a lien on the property and that you paid him in full for the services provided. Seek the assistance of an attorney to prepare an effective demand letter. Good luck.

I don't mind doing that but I am more concerned with protecting my customers. I just want to make sure they are protected from him.

Employees of a contractor are not entitled to file a lien, moreover, if more than 90 days have passed since the work was completed he cannot file the lien at all.
