Can a contractor falsify a lien?

New YorkMechanics Lien

A contractor i worked for filed a lien against my parents house claiming he did work there when he never had. He stated he did 100k worth of work before I even met him for a job. What do I do now? I have started with a labor lawyer for all the back pay he owes me. But what do I do about his falsified mechanics lean?

This sounds like wilful exaggeration under section 39-a of the Lien Law. it also sounds like retaliation under the Executive Law. You may want to file a criminal complaint. in any event, you need the assistance of an experienced construction lawyer to deal with the falsified lien.

Ok yes that is the path I have to go down. Ridiculous that it has come down to this after I'm the one owed money!!! I will be contacting a construction lawyer a.s.a.p. .. would you happen to know am I able to sure for legal fees regarding this since I was never at fault and basically put into the situation of having to deal with this lien?
