California Contractor is not who hired us to do TI work...however they are on the permit pulled for project

CaliforniaPreliminary Notice

We have been hired by a company to do TI work in California. THEY are not a licensed contractor in the State of California; however, a licensed, active, contractor pulled their permit for them How do we go about processing our preliminary lien information, as well as, properly protect ourselves?

Do what the Code says to do. That is, send copies of the notice to the owner, direct contractor (do both the unlicensed and licensed one, in this instance), the entity you contracted with, if not the direct contractor, lender, and I always suggest the surety, too, if there is one, via prepaid certified mail, return receipt requested. (Civil Code §§ 8200(a)-(d), 8110, and 8118(b).)
