I live in Greenville County, SC, inside the city limits of Greenville, near Mauldin. I had repair work done on my house on September 30, 2021. I am the owner. The work was begun and completed in one day. I paid the general contractor in full at the time the work was completed. No further work has been done since that time. To the best of my knowledge the Notice of Commencement was not filed, and a notice of non-responsibility was not filed. The GC has had difficulty paying a subcontractor in full. I received a Notice of Furnishing Labor and Materials by certified mail from the subcontractor today, December 23, 2021. I am not aware that any further legal action has been taken, but it is always possible that I will receive another certified letter in a few days. Am I liable for a mechanic's lien? What are the limitations on my liability?
