I am currently mid-project, and the work by the contractor does not meet code, is generally shoddy, and the original contractor has begun to sub-contract out the work to temp agency hires. I've paid approximately a third of the original quote, and I'd like to have them simply stop where it is and take what I've paid so far as final payment, so that I can get a better quality contractor in to complete the project, but not end up with a lien. My "contract" with them consisted of receiving a quote and making an initial payment against an Intuit Quickbooks invoice.
