Are we able to lien in CA when the Notice was not done?

CaliforniaLien DeadlinesPreliminary Notice

We are a general on this work over $30k. The initial notice was not filed - does that mean we can not lien for the funds still due. Was the notice required in order to lien?

This will depend on a number of questions including who is your contract with, what type of project is this, is there a lender etc. It is possible to still have an enforceable mechanics lien when you do not serve a preliminary notice and you are the general. But you will need a lawyer to review your situation and advise you becuase it will depend on the specifics of your situation.
