Are Prevailing Wage rates required on every public project or only over a certain dollar amount?

IllinoisPrevailing Wages

Are the rates required on small repairs? If so, they might turn what would normally be a $500 repair into a $1,000 repair.

According to the Illinois Deparment of Labor Website: "A contractor or subcontractor is required to pay not less than the prevailing wage to all laborers, works, and mechanics engaged in the construction or demolition of public works. Construction means all work performed on public works by laborers, workers or mechanics and includes maintenance work." Notably, this description does not include a contract minimum for requiring prevailing wages. Further, after a quick search, I was not able to identify a minimum threshold for public works to trigger prevailing wage requirements. But, admittedly, my expertise in the Illinois prevailing wage requirements is pretty limited. So, reaching out to a local prevailing wage lawyer or consulting with a prevailing wage compliance service - like eBacon - could provide some clarity there.
