Are Florida painters required to have license?

Florida

I was told by an attorney this... A painter is not required to have a license in florid per Fla Statue: 489.119 Is this true? I know municipality wise you do. But not sure state wide and does this make any Florida painter not licensed to lose lien rights?

There is no statewide license requirement for painters in Florida. Depending on the municipality where you are working, there may or may not be a local license requirement. The licensing requirement has no impact on your lien rights under these circumstances. The only time a license would be required to have a lien right, arguably, would be if a state license was required to do the work. If you don't have the license, then by statute the contract is unenforceable, and therefore you would have no lien rights.
