Any recourse against builder for stucco repair

FloridaDefects

We notice major stucco damage on a home that was built in 2006 in Orlando Florida. Do we have any recourse from the builder to repair this

Contacting a builder and asking them to return to the job site for repairs could always work. Most builders take a lot of pride in their work and may be willing to at least come check out the alleged issue. However, if the contractor doesn't want to help, it will be hard to hold them accountable 16 years after the work was originally done. If there was a warranty on the work included in the contract, it may still be possible to have them return and make repairs, though. Generally, claims for construction defects in Florida must typically be made within 4 years of when the issue is discovered or should have been discovered. And, for latent defects, the hard cutoff for making a claim is 10 years after the work was completed. So, legal actions will likely not be on the table for holding the builder accountable after this period has ended. With that being said, I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert on Florida construction defect actions. And, for the most clarity on what actions may be available or other options for being made whole, it'd be wise to consult with a local Florida construction attorney on the matter.
