Am I held liable if the homeowner hires someone else to finish the job

Texas

I own my own business and was hired by the homeowner to do some remodeling we found a problem in her attic and stopped work immediately and told her about it she contacted someone else to come look at it and now has someone else doing the work but has not said anything to us about being fired or not finishing the work is there anything she can do to us legally?

The legal analysis would start with a review of your contract, and extend to your proposal and to any other communications which have occurred.

If the homeowner owes you money, consider writing a letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, to request payment and attach your invoice and photographs of your completed work.

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. It appears that the homeowner has breached a contract with you, and faces liablity for costs not paid and your lost profits.

Retain a construction attorney to evaluate your situation and to provide advice.

Good luck.
