Filing a mechanic lien 65 yrs ago, my father has passed away. Am I still able to pursue for payment and be paid when that person sells w/ interested
Under Michigan law, a construction lien expires within one (1) year of its recording unless a lawsuit to foreclose (enforce) the lien is filed in the circuit court where the property is located. I'm uncertain from your question exactly when your father's lien was recorded, but if it was more than one year ago, you cannot enforce the lien. However, the statute of limitations on a contract claim is six years.
