I am a Contractor who has a sub contractor wanting to be paid for work he didn't do 15 months ago in TN. Does he have a case?

According to a similar situation I just had in GA (I live in TN) they only have a short time to seek payment through the court system and it seems that he has past that point according to your timeline.
The timelines I have been told were:
file notice within 60 days
file suit within 12 months
are you a gc in TN? I may need your help on finishing a project :)

I did some further research and it seems as though the statute of limitations in TN says 6 years.
