William Cottrell

About William Cottrell
Bill has been in private practice his entire professional career. He has litigated several hundred cases to trial and handled thousands of Motions. He has also mediated many civil lawsuits to a successful settlement. While most of his time is devoted to collecting consumer and commercial debts, he regularly drafts Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, and does Estate Planning.

He also handles Probate, Family Law, Commercial Litigation, Sexual Harassment cases, and many other areas of the law as set forth in the website. Bill is licensed in Minnesota and North Dakota.

He taught at his alma mater, William Mitchell College of Law for 11 years as an Adjunct Professor teaching Creditor-Debtor law. He is well versed in the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, having defended collection agencies and in representing consumers. He has had the preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell and Lexis-Nexis for the last 15 years. Bill has published numerous articles regarding debt collection and presented at many CLE seminars. Bill also is an approved qualified Neutral ADR Rule 114 regarding the following matters.
