About Verne Pedro
Verne Pedro is an experienced managing attorney specializing in a range of complex insurance coverage matters, including commercial general liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, cyber and data loss, professional liability, employment practices, and property. He draws on 18 years of experience handling significant first- and third-party insurance coverage issues and helping clients make informed decisions about their insurance assets, policies, and risk transfer strategies.

After handling toxic tort claims for one of the largest insurers in the world during law school, Verne dedicated his legal career to insurance law, representing both insurers and individuals suing as plaintiffs. He built on the institutional experience in private practice, where he advises admitted, non-admitted and captive insurers on insurance coverage matters involving property damage, construction defects, environmental, title insurance, personal injury, additional insureds, errors and omissions, Bermuda form policies, professional liability, and other issues.

Verne’s experience with first-party matters encompasses losses caused by natural disaster, fire, computer data loss, broker negligence, declaratory judgment actions, water damage, boat damage, bad faith, and related business interruption, business income, and extra expense claims. He also has handled bankruptcy-related insurance coverage issues.

As a litigator, Verne has experience handling all phases of civil litigation and appellate work. Over the years, Verne has litigated coverage cases, labor law, general liability claims and other complex commercial matters in multiple jurisdictions.

Armed with industry knowledge and expertise, Verne speaks at national seminars as a moderator, panelist and faculty on topics including the intersection of bankruptcy, insurance and self-insured retentions; insurance policy interpretation; ethics and the tripartite relationship; attorney-client privilege in insurance disputes; cyber risks; and commercial general liability policy interpretation. He has written articles on insurance and legal topics, including cyber insurance, business interruption, e-discovery, and property damage.

Verne earned a certificate in cyber security from Harvard Vice Provost for Advances in Learning (courses entitled “Cyber Security: Managing Risks in the Information Age”), to keep pace with this emerging area. He is admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
