About Stephen Smith
Steve Smith was born in 1962 in Houston, Texas. He and his wife, Deby, are native Houstonians. They live inthe Cypress area and have four children, Kimberly, Trent, Tyler and Kaitlin.
Steve received his Bachelor of Science with honors in Economics from Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas, in 1983 and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1986. Steve is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the United State District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas. Steve’s practice is concentrated in the areas of construction law, business litigation and real estate, with an emphasis on construction law. He maintains an active trial practice.
Steve is the son of a thirty year contractor in the greater Houston area. Having grown up in the home of a contractor, Steve has a special appreciation and affinity for contractors of all types who, by nature, are extremely hard workers and risk takers. Steve has particular expertise in site-work, concrete, etc. He has represented various types of contractors for a number of years. Steve also has experience as an owner and developer of real estate projects, both of his own and on behalf of his family’s interest. Steve has represented developers in projects ranging from downtown office buildings to residential subdivisions.
