About Matthew Jane
Matthew T. Jane, focuses his practice in general business litigation, construction law and real estatelaw, specializing in condemnation and real estate litigation. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1996, with distinction, from the University of Michigan Law, and his law degree, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000.

Prior to joining the Monaghan firm, Mr. Jane practiced at a major Detroit based firm in its Ann Arbor office. He has extensive experience handling complex and sophisticated commercial, construction and real estate matters and represents clients in all aspects of business and construction disputes, including trials, arbitrations and appeals. He has represented public and private owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, lenders, title insurance companies and sureties in all phases of the construction process, including claims involving payment and valuation issues, defective design and construction, change orders and differing site conditions.

Mr. Jane has authored several articles and lectured on various construction law and real estate topics. He is active in the local construction industry and bar associations, having served on the Board of Directors for the Washtenaw County Bar Association from 2003-2015, including as its President in 2014. Based on his achievements, Mr. Jane has been listed in several attorney rating services, including Best Lawyers in America, Martindale-Hubbell and Michigan Super Lawyers, and has been recognized by the Eastern District of Michigan for his pro bono work. Mr. Jane also received the Preeminent Young Lawyer Award from the New Lawyer Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association in 2006.
