About John Krings
Prior to joining Kaler Doeling, PLLP, Krings spent the last 22 years between private practice and in-house general counsel in the franchising and construction market segments. Krings’ private practice includes experience involving general counsel services for over 20 internet, construction, retail, and financial services organizations. He has organized profit and non-profit corporations, LLCs, partnerships and joint ventures, drafted stock options, financing agreements, employment agreements and purchase and sale contracts. John has also been involved in a multitude of M&A transactions and commercial transactions including representing lenders in secured transactions in excess of $250 million. John has litigated contract disputes, construction defects, real estate transactions, and corporate, partnership and joint venture disputes.

John has also acted as in-house legal counsel and COO for Erbert & Gerbert’s Sandwich Shops, more than doubling the number of franchised locations during his tenure. John oversaw all legal matters for the company, including negotiation of all franchise agreements, lease negotiations with multiple local and national based landlords, and negotiated all national supplier agreements. John oversaw the Operations, IT, Purchasing and Training departments. This significant in-house corporate experience enhanced John’s ability to understand the needs of his business clients. John has also served as CFO/General Counsel for a Fargo based general contractor focused on construction projects annually in excess of $4 million. John has had significant experience in negotiating lump sum and cost-plus contracts, construction subcontracts, supplier agreements, secured transactions, real estate, and lien notices in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. John also has a vast knowledge of construction processes and International Building Code compliance as he has taken and passed the Minnesota building contractor examination.
