About Ira Rachelson
Ira Rachelson began his practice with a concentration in business litigation that was primarily related to construction litigation. He has extensive experience and represents parties needing advice or involved in disputes over construction projects. These representations have included both the residential homeowner and the large institutional developer, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Ira handles every aspect of legal concern for parties contemplating or engaged in construction, including negotiating and drafting all of the various agreements that may be needed, filing the statutory notice of commencement, assisting in the perfection of lien rights, investigating potential and pending claims, negotiating to avoid escalation of disputes, mediating, arbitrating, or litigating matters in dispute, pursuing and collecting recovery, and generally advising parties about their rights and duties.
Ira has assisted numerous employers and employees regarding competition, solicitation of customers and employees as well as trade secret protection. As a result of his work in these areas over his career, he has successfully litigated numerous cases. The distinguishing characteristic of his practice is cost-effective service. Ira is committed to keeping his eyes on the bottom line. When his involvement offers little or no chance of improving the clients’ bottom line, then he will advise the client accordingly.
Ira obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Emory University. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia (member, Real Estate Section), and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He also has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in several states throughout the country.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1943, Ira and his wife Margaret (Ducie), have two daughters, Rebecca and Claire, one son, Benjamin, and three dogs, Rosie, Sadie, and Harlan.
