Signature Block

noun

The text surrounding a signature at the end of a document, that provides context and additional information; such as the signator’s name, their title/authority to sign on behalf of a business entity, and their contact information.

A signature block can also require a witness signature, or that the signature is performed “under seal” by a notary. Improper use of a signature block could affect the validity of the document or result in the signator being personally liable for an obligation meant to be signed on behalf of a company.
