A written statement that states a specific action was taken, typically confirmed by oath or affirmation in front of a notary.
State laws sometimes require affidavits in connection with construction notices and liens. For example, an Affidavit of Delivery confirms that the signatory prepared and sent a document according to specific requirements. The affidavit includes the method of delivery that was used to send the document as well as the parties to whom the the document was sent.
