Preliminary Notice

noun

A notice typically sent at the beginning of a construction project by contractors, subs, and suppliers to let the property owner and others know that they are on the job. Sending preliminary notice is a requirement in many states to protect lien rights.

Even when a preliminary notice isn’t required, it’s a good idea to send them anyway. Preliminary notices provide invaluable transparency and communication on jobsites.
