Notice of Furnishing
noun
A preliminary notice used by sub-tier parties to inform the property owner and others about the labor and/or materials they are providing to the project. Used in four states: Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, and South Dakota.
In these states, most parties who furnish labor and/or materials on construction projects are required to send a Notice of Furnishing in order to secure lien rights.
