The Dutchess County Clerk’s requirements for recording a mechanics lien are as follows:

The Mechanics Lien Form should be completed in its entirety including:

* Names and addresses of Creditor and Debtor
* Property description with Tax District (town/city of)
* Money amount being claimed
* Completed form must be signed in the presence of a Notary Public
* Bring photo ID if signature is to be notarized (at no charge) at County Clerk’s Office
* The cost of filing is $15.
* Mail notarized form or bring to:

All documents must be no larger than 8 1/2″ x 11″. Every document must have a two-and-a-half-inch square white space on the top right hand corner of the first page of each document and a half-inch square white space on the top right hand corner of each subsequent page of the document.

The Dutchess County Clerk’s Office accepts check payments Note that personal checks over $400 will not be accepted.

Images may be viewed on-line free-of-charge. To download or print documents without a watermark, there is a $0.50/page charge. Certified copies are available through the Record Room at 22 Market St.
