My NTO was sent in the first 45 days of being on the job, but I didn't have owner information and couldn't find it. I sent the NTO to my customer, who is the GC.
We're now past the 45 days to send the NTO, but if I can find the owner and resend the NTO, would that protect my job? Or am I out of luck as far as meeting my NTO requirement?
Are there any provisions for amending an NTO after the deadline? Thanks.

1. I served the lien after filing it. The owner's attorney is saying it is invalid because I had to serve before filing. Is that true and if so, what can I do?
2. I never served the 20-day preliminary notice. I was hired by the owner-builder. He is claiming that since he was technically the GC, as a sub I was required to file that notice. Please advice.

I am in the process of selling my home. An ex employer from 6 yrs ago just popped up claiming that
I owe him money and is going to put a lien on my property. What should I do? I do not owe him anything. I am aware of the money he is speaking of but we had an agreement that it was all taken care of prior to me leaving the company.
We did have the agreement in writing. I'm trying to track it down, but being 6yrs ago i don't know if i'm going to be able to find it.....
He has only sent me 2 texts messages with the threat of a lien. I haven't responded to him yet.

North DakotaAll statutes for filing a mechanic's lien seem to be related to the last day that materials were delivered. It says there are no specified deadlines or policies on making a claim to recover retainage, so what does that mean with how we should proceed to collect an outstanding retainage debt?
TennesseeI provided engineering services on a test rig located in an industrial building. I last provided services on 10/22/2019. On Nov. 20 ,2019, the property was sold, but the engineering test rig remains on the property. Can I file a Mechanics Lien on the property to get paid for my engineering services?
North CarolinaA client requested technical support not related to a specific project. the technical assistance is a T & M type billing for service ticket support. Once we completed the work, we send a T & M invoice with data on what was performed. The client has net 30 day terms.
In this case, he refuses to pay for no other reason then he did not think he should have to pay due to the fact that they would be updating their system at a later date and would call us at that time. We did provide a project proposal for that system upgrade, but he decided not to do the project.
At the end of the day, he still refuses to pay for the service call. Is there any recourse via a lien?
UtahThere is a project that we completed in 2018 that we have not been paid for. One pay application is 202 days old and the other is 383 days old.
We did not file a notice to lien agent when the job started. Are we still able to file a lien?
North CarolinaI file a breach of contract with my contractor , the case was dismissed with prejudice.the contractor did not have a counterclaim, He then put a lien on my property.The last day of work with him was June 15th 2019.
The lien was placed on 10/10/2019 more than 90 days of the required time to file such lien. Since he did not file a counter claim, do he still have a legal right to put a lien on my property?
GeorgiaI had a contractor in florida perform some work in my coop, the work is terrible, the workers were from home depot parking lot, late every day, I the home owner had to go get materials, my contract says materials not included not I need to supply or pick up. FloridaI am a utility contractor. We completed our preliminary work on the project. Then the grading contractor came in to do his work. We then came in to finalize our phase of the project. Upon arrival we discovered numerous damages done by the grading contractor and I made him and the engineer aware of the damages and made necessary repairs, and calculated and shared the repair total. The grading contractor made a partial payment to me but has not paid the outstanding balance.
I have made several attempts to contact him with no success. I have been told I cannot lien the job and instead I have to file a lawsuit against him. What is the best way for me to get paid? What should I do first?

UtahMy client in San Mateo County, CA took delivery of three floating shelves from us, and has not remitted their final payment of 25% to us, after several/many calls from both me and my wife. We would like to be paid our final 25% which is clearly stated in the Statement of Work (SOW) that we provide each and every client. Our payment terms of very clear; 75% down and 25% at delivery. The 75% down provides me the ability to buy the wood and materials for their custom project. We send them all the materials they need to place their shelves where ever they'd like in their home.
I believe that my only recourse is to file a Mechanics Lien to receive final payment. I understand the need to provide Intent to file etc.
Please let me know if I need to provide more information so you can answer this question - can I file a mechanics lien to get paid?
