Hires me to come and do all finish work and once I got there to work I started finding his work was the worst I’ve seen in 10+years. I refused to roof it in its condition. I explained to home owner how it should be done and he had lied to them from day one. First but saying material coast was 25,000 on two rooms one 8/20 and other 12/20. Now home owner wants him to leave and I to tear it down and start over. But me and her is both in a contract with him he also adds to my contract after I sign it. ...Read More

We had work done on our home included pouring concrete in the backyard and all around the home. The concrete was poured up to the stucco and has buried the weep screed. Recently we discovered moisture intrusion causing mold. We have been told we need to pull out our flooring, among other things. Also the problem needs to be fixed. We had a plumber, a leak detection company, and a home inspector come out. We have no pressurized leaks. It has been a week since I reached out to the contractor. I sent him documentation three days ago. After not really too much response, he said he would fully review documents two days from now- and be in contact afterward....Read More

I did a high-end glass tile install on a spa in Brentwood TN (suburb of Nashville). I gave HO instructions on running the nearly black glass infinity edge. They were told (and recall it) that the edge was to be running (flowing over) if it was above 70 degrees and sunny or warmer to keep the tile cool and avoid excessive thermal cycling. They set the edge to turn on at 5pm daily for the first summer and the tile tented at the properly installed expansion joints. (I put them twice as close together as required by TCNA EJ 171 would require as the install was in direct sunlight and almost black. The customer wants it fixed and the husband has voiced that he understood that it was improperly run and knows that is why it failed. His wife however has a totally different opinion and has tried to get litigious. They have brought every top expert in the industry using NDAs to keep me unaware and their best efforts to find fault with me have failed. Now that they have learned the truth about why it failed and have been told that my install was probably as good or better than any of them could have done, they want me to fix it and pay me. I want to protect myself from any litigation and potential failure to pay before I agree to do anything. A hold harmless agreement at the very least. Can you help me contract and write "hold harmless agreement" for such a sensitive project? What I need is an outline of the documents needed to proceed and successfully complete this repair job estimated including all materials and expenses at 60k....Read More

My fiancé and I purchased a new home build January 2021 from a Design Build contractor. After a couple months we started to notice some items in the house that were deteriorating or needed attention. Items like bad ventilation in the bathroom causing immediate rust on hardware after short showers, standing water in walk in shower from bad drainage causing tile mold, doors were suppose to be replaced per the purchase agreement and front door lighting fixture falling. At first the builder and his real estate agent was very friendly and stated they would fix the items because they were an easy fix, but after 11 months with constant brush off we are afraid to lose any warranty or rights we have on our new home. We are now also being told that we will be reimbursed for a door that contract states will be changed at builders cost and the other fixes like ventilation will be our responsibility to pay for. Last but not least we keep asking for appliance warranty info (never received booklets or anything and asked multiple times) because our stove is defective (coating on top is melting away) and we are being told to call Home Depot and ask them for the info (wth lol). ...Read More

I had a masonry contractor repair a brick porch on my house. The repairs are of unacceptable quality, and some areas needing repair were not completed. the contractor sent their employee twice to supposedly address this, but they only made the situation worse, and still did not complete the repair. Now they are filing a lien as i refuse to pay for unsatisfactory work. There was no written contract. How do I challenge the validity of the lien?...Read More

My contractor never finished the job and now has put a lien one year later on my home. The lien is very faulty and I sent him a demand letter and pointed out all the mistakes in the lien. I was told by the secretary that he's never filed a lien so I was a experiment. He's also inflated cost, added attorney fees and interest. I just want the faulty lien off my home. Will a bad faulty lien even hold up in court?...Read More

I am a property owner, with a solar panel lease on the roof. Panels are installed 8 years ago. Because of a recent roof leak, I came to discover a few things. According to 3rd party roof/solar contractors, the set of panels installed was not up to code, and it should of never been installed. Because my roof had no plywood or OSB layer, there was anything to secure the panels. And because of the installation on wood shingles, the roof is leaking because of that. And I can't patch the leak, have to replace the entire roof now. So I was advised to check with building and safety for proper paperwork. And to my amaze, I learned that safety inspection was not done, and the installation permits all have expired, and I was advised by building and safety to contact service provider. SunPower tells me to contat authorized dealer, dealer says they can't help and to call SunPower. So now i am stuck in a loop. Can anyone help me?...Read More

I hired contractor as a concrete sub on a project. He installed 90% of the work and I paid him for the project (approximately $6500.00). Unfortunately, the concrete didn't pass inspection and had to be removed. I tried a dozen times to reach him to correct the work and even sent a 24 hour notice to comply. All communications were ignored and I had to remove the faulty work at my expense. After I removed the concrete, the GC i was working for decided to take the concrete over and complete it themselves. Within 24 hours of them informing me they will be handling the concrete, my contract was terminated due to the concrete subs inability to correct the work. Do I have a good case to go after the concrete sub for the money that was paid to him for the faulty work, the cost to remove the faulty work and the damages I incurred from being terminated due to his poor craftmanship?...Read More

Hi there! I completed work on a home in la jolla Ca for inside and out window cleaning. The home owner is now reporting that there are scratches on 6 Panes of glass and is refusing to pay. The windows in question were cleaned the same way every other window in the house was cleaned and the home owner was informed of the equipment we would be using to clean the windows. I told the home owner that he should contact the window installers because it looks like the window was installed backwards and the low e coating is on the outside. The home owner is insisting on running my insurance even though I explained to him that the damage was not caused by faulty workmanship. I already filed a 20 day preliminary notice for a lien but I want to know if he would have a case if he chose to take me to court for damages and what I should do to protect my company....Read More
