I work for an excavation company. We don't use Levelset at the company I currently work for. The company that I used to work for used Levelset, and it was very helpful. Recently, I took over the billing at the company I currently work for and noticed that there are more than a few jobs that have unpaid invoices dating as far back as 2016. Our contract is fairly basic regarding client invoicing and payment, basically we will submit invoices every (30) days, client shall pay invoices in full within (30) days, If client fails to pay we may give (10) notice to client to secure the default, if they fail to do so, we can stop work. I would like to attempt to collect on some of these old invoices. Do I have any recourse, if so, what steps would I have to take in order to do so? Thank you in advance....Read More

I worked on a project for 8 months, it was the in-laws home that needed some repairs in order to be put on the market to sale after their passing. I worked with my soon to be ex-husband on the project. It was a verbal agreement that if i helped him getting this house ready To be sold- when it did sell- he would give me $10,000. The house sold Nov.1,2022. I have not heard a peep from him in regards to me being paid. A few months back he made a statement that he was giving me anything, that i owed him for other things that he started to rattle off. These things he stated had nothing to do with this house and besides....i dont feel that i owe him anything to be honest. With that being said- this verbal was for the job not by monthly payments as the examples show. What do i nees to do here to get my money? He also had me charge stuff on my home depot account with assurance of being paid. 1300.00 be be exact. Not one penny haw been applied to that....Read More

I’m a homeowner in Massachusetts. A contractor took a small deposit from me in August for a siding job. The work was to be done in August and since then nothing has occurred. He has a slew of excuses. I no longer trust him or want to invest tons of Money with someone who runs his business so poorly. He claims he has ordered the materials. Am I legally required to stay with this contractor if he says he ordered materials? I have not signed a contract. No work has been done and I have only provided him a deposit....Read More

We were hired to do 2 separate jobs from one client. I am a GC but was hired as a sub by a GC. completed the first job (still owes $3800 on that job) started second job, plans were wrong, his plumbing subs did their part wrong ( i had my men fix for free), did extra work, then we disagreed on something and he terminated the remaining work to be done on second contract. We agreed to the separation. He then requested most of the money we received from him for second job refunded. We sent a break down of costs including money owed from first completed job (we were generous as we just wanted to go on to our next project). the breakdown sent had us owing him $3500. He denied and said we owe much more now he got a lawyer and wants $38,000 immediately. What is our next step. We do not owe him $38,000 and dont want the CSLB involved....Read More

Our reroofing is essentially done but a few things are still missing: connecting to roof to the pool cage, replacing a drain pipe they damaged, tightening some fasters of the gutters they unscrewed / removed, etc. They also cracked a part of the driveway by overloading a dumpster. During the re-roofing the contractor has lied to us on several accounts and is not trustworthy. They insist on payment in full before the will fix the last remaining issues. However, it seems quite clear they actually don't have the intention to do it. What is the best way to proceed? So far, we made it clear well pay the remaining amount (20%) only when the project is completed. ...Read More

I am a contractor who was engaged in a renovation project, Due to circumstances I was not able to be on premises daily. The customer was aware of this. She had let me go in December even after informing her that we would be there to complete the job. She had even mentioned due to the fact that she got another contractor to complete some of the tasks, she offered alternative tasks. She did give us a deposit, she did supply most of the materials when needed, however there were materials needed to complete tasks that were not present. We had offered to giver back more than half of the deposit, she never allowed me the opportunity to present the amount before she filed in small claims court. She is also trying to triple the amount to be paid to her. What am I to do? Do you have any insight. ...Read More
